I'm going to start a thread on Kim Kilbey. Sometimes there is info on Kim and Kim and Will that appear in the downunder papers...that should have it's own playhouse.

One of my favorite pictures of Kim is from a very early modeling assignment called Arts and Crafts. She is modeling the bag. The copy reads: These days, satchels are for more then just a handy alternative to the bulky bag -- they are fashion accessories in their own right! Choose your look with a satchel fabric to complement your favourite outfits. A craft pattern of the Satchel is shown, plus this picture of Kim.

Kim Kilbey did not always want to be a television host - she really wanted to be a fashion designer. And so after finishing high school, Kim commenced a three year course for a Diploma in Fashion Design.

On completion of her studies Kim embarked on a full-time career as a successful model, moving from her home in Melbourne to Sydney as she was in such a high demand.

Over the past eight years Kim has appeared in hundreds of editorial and advertising campaigns, including TV advertisements, and has graced the covers of numerous magazines.

In January 1998 Channel Nine selected Kim from hundreds of hopefuls as the presenter of Australia's Funniest Home Video Show.

After several successful seasons hosting Australia's Funniest Home Video Show Kim moved to the United States where she is currently pursuing a television presenting career.

DNash, thank you. Smile My main purpose is to feature *new* material on Kim (since she's been here in the USA).

Like you, I adore the picture of early Kim, posted. She does make me think I would look fresh faced.... wearing a backpack.

And Kimmer, who does Will have his arm wrapped around in your Avatar? hmmmm.. *hugs*

Excellent sleuthing Ally. It's a good snapshot of her early career. Please continue to find articles... you have a knack!

Thank Jo. A long time ago.. there used to be at least 16 mentions of Kim in the press (on a yearly basis). And 1/3 did mention a certain bloke. All that has been said recently...about Kim appeared in an Queensland paper. The article was entitled: "Where are they Now, the hosts of Australia's Funniest Home Video". The author of the article mentioned Kim as being in Production in the USA. Nothing more. Which leads me into Jaxgirls question...

This piece is from 1998:

Quote:
Funniest Home Videos host Kim Kilbey is taking criticism in her stride, writes Robert Fidgeon
I'VE got to say, you Guide readers are a pretty passionate lot.
You've never been backward in come forward to express your views when something stirs your emotion.
The things I find interesting, however, are the unforeseen topics that get you going.
Last year it was Nicky Buckley's clothes that brought an avalanche of for-and-against mail to Your Say.
But the hoo-ha over Buckley's fashions pales into insignificance compared with the hundreds of letters we have received in recent weeks regarding Funniest Home Videos' new host, Kim Kilbey.
Disciples and detractors of the 27-year-old Melbourne-born Kilbey have waged a war of words as to her strengths and weaknesses.
In Melbourne this week to say a quick hello to her parents, Kilbey admitted viewers' reaction to her on-screen arrival had caught her by surprise.
"I was in Sydney the other week when Dad rang me and said: `Oh, you should read the Guide, you're going to hate it'," chuckles Kilbey, who replaced Jo Beth Taylor on the show.
"So I had a look and said to him: `Heck, at least they've run a great picture of me'.
"But criticism's part of the business. People are entitled to their own opinion and that's fine by me.
"I take it on board and use it constructively and try to use it to my best advantage."
Describing herself as her "own worst critic", Kilbey stresses she is still learning the business but believes she is improving each week.
"I'm a Virgo, which means I'm a perfectionist, but as long as I'm having fun I'm happy - and, right now, I'm having a ball," she says.
"I know people have said things about my voice, so I'm trying to correct that.
"It's all a learning process to me. I was thrown in there to a certain degree and the more comfortable I get with the show, the better my voice will be."
Kilbey and boyfriend William Snow (the star of Ten's upcoming adventure series Tales of the South Seas) watch tapes of her show and assess her progress each week.
"He's been terrific. He goes through it all with me and, if anything, he's even harder on me than I am," she laughs.
W HILE Kilbey's entry into television has been something of a baptism of fire, if determination and hard work has anything to do with success, the model-turned-TV presenter is going to make it.
Mind you, it hasn't improved her driving skills any.
Within weeks of joining Nine, Kilbey found herself driving in the celebrity race at the Australian Grand Prix.
For the girl who failed her first licence test without getting out of the driveway, it was a pretty daunting experience.
"I had a ball, even though I started the race in reverse," she laughs.
"With my driving record, I can't believe Holden let me drive one of its cars.
"If I thought television was tough, let me tell you, negotiating a car around the Albert Park circuit is five times as difficult."

SHARING the spotlight with her actor boyfriend is something Funniest Home Videos host Kim Kilbey is getting used to.
Kilbey's long-time partner William Snow was recently seen on Australian screens starring in Tales of the South Seas, while another TV series he is involved in, The Lost World, has found success in America.
``Tales of the South Seas was something he shot about three years ago,'' Kilbey says.
``He is in America at the moment promoting The Lost World, so he is a bit of a star over there before he is here,'' she laughs.
Not that she minds: ``His work is much harder than mine so he can be the star.''
She says Snow's growing international career has not affected their strong relationship.
``It is great. It helps the relationship if both people are doing well,'' she says.
``We get along really well. The only thing (with The Lost World being filmed on the Gold Coast) is he is not in Sydney very often.
``It is not too bad though, because when he is filming I get to go to the Gold Coast every second week.
``My work is pretty flexible so I can usually get five or six days there at a time.''
The Channel Nine host says she has not been bitten by the acting bug.
``I have taken acting classes in the past (but) I have always gone more towards the TV presenting side of things where I can be me and I don't have to be someone else,'' she says.
But should other opportunities arise, Kilbey admits she would be interested.
``I want to keep doing the video show because I love the show. It is so much fun, but, sure, I would like to be doing something else as well.
``I am a great believer if it is meant to be it will, and if you wait long enough then you usually get what you want.''
Her first priority, however, is Funniest Home Videos, which begins its 11th series this year.
``We have got a bit of a new look for the show this year. It has got a new opening title, I think the set is a little bit different, so it is going to look new and a little bit freshened up,'' she says.
After two years with the show, Kilbey says she can't believe the things people capture on video.
``Some people must have their video camera set up 24 hours a day to get the things they do,'' she says.
The secret to the show's success, Kilbey reflects, is it's universal appeal.
``It has got a really wide demographic,'' she says. ``There are not many shows on TV that the whole family can sit down and watch and enjoy.''

Some of you might remember that J&G posted on the Newline board about Kim and Will producing their own pilot for a 'chat show' called "Totally Hollywood". Here are a few clips of Kim when she was host of "Australia's Funniest Home Video" and a few interspaced clips of "Totally Hollywood" with Hugh Jackman.
