Sounds like a realy great idea!

If there's gonne be a convention please put as much pictures about it on the net Very Happy

so the people who couldn't go would have also a little memorian about it :p
My body will be here :p but my thoughts would be on the convention (if there would be one :p)

So if we can put this thing together, how do we decide where to hold it and when? Do we vote or research to see what's cheapest?

For those of you who joined the board after the Cons, I served as President of the 2004 and 2005 Cons. I also worked during the 2003 Con.

How hard is it to put one of these on? Gee...hmmm, I've got the answer to that one!

It takes a committee of at least 6 people and it helps if they've had con experience before. In 2003, we didn't have that. The committee was green, but they still put on the best con for the money. I didn't go home disappointed.

In 2004, we started with a base of experience from the 2003 Con Committee and we went about setting the outline for TLW Cons of the future. It was a LOT of work, but with all the talented committee members and volunteers, we made it work. In 2005, we were old pros Rolling Eyes

Since the board attracts fans from all over the world, we had to make all our plans via emails and sometimes phone when the situation called for an immediate response. Currently I'm STILL sorting all my emails from the 2004 Con. My sent files are over 3,000 and incoming emails averaged 35 - 50 per day regarding all aspects of putting one of 'these' on. In 2004 , we had 30 something emails 'discussing' which dessert to serve at the Opening Night Dinner.

In 2003, the Con Committee incorporated and formed a non-profit business named The Lost World Convention. We paid fees to the state of Oregon where we were licensed to do our business. We had to apply to become a non-profit organization with the federal goverment, which we did. We filed tax papers with the Feds each year. None of the volunteers or Con Committee members were ever paid for their efforts.

Now I'm not saying pulling together a 10 year reunion would be the work that a Con was...BUT the stars waived their appearance fees because we gave all our profits after expenses to charities. We did pay for normal expenses incurred with having stars appear at a Con.

So, if you guys are serious, I'm not doing anything at the moment Smile

I don't have any experience working in conventions, never been to one, but if you guys do decide on a time and place, I'm pretty sure I can make it anywhere in the US, but also I might consider Canada, or Australia even. If this does turn out, I'll be stoked because it will be my first convention -plus its for The Lost World! And I really do want to get to meet everyone here; that would just be so amazing for me.

So, how do we figure out where everyone is, and get the word out so we can decide on a location? Map generator? Email? Lets get started...

. Even though I'll have to work a full year to raise the money I'd love to be there with you. My dream is to visit America one day and this is the pretext that I've been waiting for. So please Margie and the others that helped with the last conventions try to make this possible Confused

. It would be so great if the actors would come too, especially Rachel ( I know that I'm obsessed but I can't help it Wink

). I really want to get to know you guys Laughing

I think this is a great idea and I'm excited to see such great people stepping up to the plate to organize it. I will certainly do my best to attend wherever it is. I expect mainland US would be the most feasible choice.
