Even though I haven't seen every single episode as yet....This one is my favourite to date.
I am huge Ripper fan and have read numerous accounts of who was/wasn't the Ripper. A new slant in this episode,if a little out of the realms of possibilty. Still it is only make believe.
I liked this episode for the way nin which the main antagonists of the Ripper era were played out by the cast...especially Rachel's portrayal of Mary Jane Kelly..the accent sent wee shivers up and down my spine. _________________ Thanks to Raziel for my beautiful Sig

I was originally not a fan of this episode. I empathize too much and those were horrible crimes against women that probably had no hand up in life. But, like Stone Cold, David Orth had to convince us he was having an extraordinary experience. I honestly didn't want him touching the knife any more than Ned did. I am a sucker though for the way Challenger and Veronica vowed to protect him from himself while under the influence of this conductor of evil. We are all seduced by the closeness each of the treehouse cohabitant feel towards each other, in spite of their flaws.
From the safety of our homes, we see them shoot raptors all the time. Yet they are appalled when they see one disected and displayed with cruel intent. This struck me odd at first. I'm of the mind set "one less raptor to deal with". They shoot only when threatened and have no way out. It was a creed of honor and humanity among them.
Our villans possessed good acting skills and were dispicable for the most part without becoming ridiculous. I would have preferred for Marguerite and Roxton to have a peaceful swim though. For his interruption though, he is not forgiven! However, this was a shining example of TLW not allowing our women folk to sit around and cry for Dudley Doright to show up to save them. They put a whooping on the bad guys that, had they lived, they would not have forgotten any time soon. The men didn't fare quite as well, though it was more a case of being out foxed (from what I remember).
Marguerite desparately seeking Roxton in the water had my heart racing. I was ready to get up and point at where he was. (You didn't know I helped from time to time, did you? ) Her hat came flying off and she didn't notice. This is not the Marguerite we met in season one. Our little heiress is growing up beautifully before our eyes. WooHoo! Her saving him was a touchdown in my book. Their jealousies and frustrations with each other had been brought to the surface once again and they came through it closer than before.
As for Veronica facing off against the bad guys, well... it wasn't looking good at first? I mean, here she is, tied up and they're standing around with that horrible knife (which I thought would be a cool looking kitchen knife-for vegetables, not people). Then, she whips out her knife and I know she's fixing to put some Jackie Chan on them. I didn't expect her to start cutting them, but she did some of that too. The first one charges her and fails Flying 101. She plans to kill the second, but he gets away in time to meet some hungry raptors for lunch. It was TLW's way of saying "We value human life, no matter how low" and let them do themselves in. Outside of a few cuts Veronica got in, her hands were ultimately clean.
Due to my epathetic nature, I won't comment about when Ned went back in time. Although it was done well and our ladies had some shining moment, it's still a tough one for me. Throwing the knife in lave was a good decission considering it's penchance for evil.
A side note, I don't think Summerlee would have allowed Challenger to hand Ned the knife again. I think his protective nature would have prevented any further exploration into Jack the Ripper. His spirit would have cried through this episode, but he'd have given us so much wisdom and a good shoulder to lean on. I wish he were with us through out. _________________ Marguerite from Blood Lust: It's just a broken limb. For all we know it could have been from a stampede of bunny rabbits.

I, too would have preferred for Roxton and Marguerite to have a nice swim.. but there is always something with TLW that interrupts even the most tranquil setting.
The scene with the dinosaur strung up like a victim was chilling because it didn't look like they used the creature for food, but for experiments. *shudder*. The video diva's first noticed the insides of the dino looked darker in some scenes. J&G confirmed that the SFX people darkened the interior of the eviscerated dino because it looked very gory.
Thank you Xelda for a great walk down memory lane with this episode. Oh and I agree, Summerlee would not have let Challenger use the explorers as lab rats.
