What a great conclusion. The atmosphere of the entire piece was amazing, santacrux. The revelation that the guilt Marguerite felt wasn't really for the jeweles she had taken but for the papers she had kept made so much sense.
And, in the end, you really
felt a change in Marguerite. I won't say "chill" because that would be wrong. But for her not to send on Adrienne's personal things to her family .... because she knew someday in the future she could use them ... Well, one just suddenly gets that impression that Marguerite has taken her first step into the often times perilous world of true double-standard. We DO know the humanity is there, she ordered Adrienne's headstone, but this was coming a year later, from a woman who married a millionaire -- a man she obviously did not love and knew it. She was already a survivor but cool and sad ...
Yet, there is room for hope.
What comes before mixes well with the intercut of Marguerite and Roxton in the "present". Their impulsive kiss; so pefect for late 2nd season (and particulalrly this episode) theme was well paced and easy to read -- and actually a good set up for "Man of Vision" with Margueite thinkng that here and now she would hear Roxton out but once off the plateau all bets were off ... That's our Marguerite completely in character.
Again, so well done, santacrux. I enjoyed this fiction thoroughly.
