After I wrote my first responses, I remembered that, during the episode, Roxton mentioned that the whole thing made no sense because he did everything to avoid killing the animal. So the writer acknowledged that there was something strange going on that neither the Expedition or the audience knew about. The explanation that killing on that ground got the same results no matter what would have worked. I almost thought of Oseena as some sort of supernatural equivalent of a recorded message that gives a big speech and does what its programmed to do. Her whole job can't be just to torture humans that kill there. Once word gets out, I doubt it happens often.

Who knows? Fan theories could include that it was a trick to separate Roxton and Marguerits or could instead have been to manipulate them into seeing how important they were to each other.

I agree about "The Travellers". I think you pointed out how Roxton was having the sword fight and seemed to act like he had as much time as he needed to win, wasn't making any effort to get around his opponent and get back to Marguerite even though, as far as he knew, she was face down in water drowning.

The first time I saw this episode I too was bothered by the idea of Roxton being cursed for killing the triceratops after trying so hard not to. It just aired today and having the chance to watch it in a different light I have two ideas for the Oseena business.

First I wonder if maybe Ossena was actually the hunter, setting Roxton up to be the unwilling prey for her pleasure. Roxton does try his best not to kill the dino, giving it many oppurtunites to turn and run away. He speaks to it saying he doesn't want to kill it. If Oseena was watching, wouldn't she have heard this? Wouldn't she have been impressed by his respect for the beast? I know I was. But it keeps coming back. Could she have been controlling it? Was it even real to begin with? I don't remember seeing it's remains when evil Roxton returns to the graveyard with Marguerite. Wasn't there an episode in the original Star Trek where they encountered an alien that did the same?

My other idea is much like Santacrux mentioned. You kill an animal on sacred ground, and bad-a-bing, your cursed. I don't care why it happened, how it happened, who you know or even how damn cute you look in that hat. You shouldn't have been there in the first place. You're cursed, nuff said.

I just have one thing nagging me, if Veronica and her parents never heard of the graveyard, how did Ned find it. And why would he have found it newsworthy enough to write in his journals along with detailed diagrams but never bothered to mention it to any of the others?

It's those SPRs at work again. You just never know when something will appear and disappear.

When you think about it ... Just how big is the beach near the Inland Sea? The exolorers always seem to find a new beach everytime they visit the place.

One day my English teacher posed this question to us; What if? What if you suspend reality for a moment in order to enjoy the story being told? What if you allow yourself to experience what the writer/director/actor is trying to get you to experience?

I agree the beginning of this episode was questionable. But I asked myself "what if" and let go of the facts before me. I understand and appreciate everyone's views. I am beyond happy that I've found people to discuss this show with me. I have attached myself to very few shows, but this is one of my favorites. Thank you all sharing your thoughts.

"An Eye for an Eye"

While exploring a mysterious dinosaur bone yard, Roxton is attacked by a charging Triceratops and kills it. However, the bone yard is actually a sacred animal burial ground, protected by a beautiful, half-human, half-dinosaur guardian named Oseena. To punish Roxton for his crime of killing, Oseena curses him to become the prey in a hunt that will end only with his death. Then, she reaches into his chest and withdraws a swirling dark mass that slowly begins to take the form of the ultimate, inescapable hunter.

Shaken by his encounter with Oseena, Roxton returns to the treehouse. But the hunter tracks him relentlessly and endangers Challenger, Veronica, and Marguerite. Unwilling to risk his friends' lives, Roxton sets out to hunt the hunter. But the hunter is prepared for all of Roxton's strategies and once again takes control by capturing Marguerite and using her as bait to lure Roxton into a deadly trap.

As Challenger receives an enigmatic clue to the hunter's true nature, from what might be the ghost of Ned Malone, Roxton returns to Oseena's burial ground for the final confrontation with the ultimate hunter, and his last chance to save Marguerite and escape Oseena's curse.

Last Week's Question
Where does Francois Locke promise to take Marguerite in "The Travelers?"

Answer: Back to England
