Well, it's always possible that audiences will start the trend towards the Action/Adventure genre again. Maybe then we'll see some classic stories and shows re-made. That'll be exciting! I know there is going to be a NEW Sherlock Holmes movie this year with a cast of Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law, Rachel McAdams, and other actors, from the UK.

Also there is a Robin Hood movie in production due for 2010, that I'm super excited about! It'll have cate blanchet (love her), kevin durand (Lost, Xmen Origins Wolverine, Body of Lies), Russell Crowe, and Matthew Macfadyen, directed by Ridley Scott.

So, anyway, some more movies are tapping into the classical-adventure-story vein following the films Journey to the Center of the Earth and Race to Witch Mountain from earlier this year... and at least Sir Arthur Conan Doyle is getting some air-time! :P Also there is the upcoming movie Land of the Lost which has roots in the same genre. So who knows, maybe kids will show and interest towards these films and start a trend towards it again!

The current update is 4172 signatures!

TLW ended much too soon and even after all these years, I would love to see it start up again with Season 4.

Recently finished watching all 3 seasons on DVD once again. Reminded how aggravating and frustrating it was after the final ep season 3 , the cliffhanger. Veronica glowing, Marguerite about to become a Druid sacrifice, Roxton faced off with conquistadors, and Challenger about to have his brain cut out.
And the "to be continued"-only it wasnt. Talk abot broken promises. What they did was wrong, unforgivable.
To take another example, I did not like how Xena ended on season 6- but at least there was closure.
But with TLW- we just got left dangling.

Hawkbrother, Xena had closure, because the series was to end. Do understand where you are coming from on "to be continued". There is no simple answer. I can explain, some of the process. In December of 2001 the show was renewed (greenlighted) for a 4th season. And the writers were told to write not a series ending, but a series continuation. Which the writers wrote.. By July of 2002 Jeff Hayes Executive Producer to the show, stated: "They just needed to nail down a few loose ends." All the cast and crew were still under contract and filming was to start, soon. Unfortunately, those loose ends, became tangled in the mire of production issues. Newline decided not to distribute TLW anymore They pulled away from the bargaining table. TLW had to find another distributor. Other issues beset the production company, they include lack of tax breaks for filming in Australia, the increasingly strong Australian dollar (ie the stronger the Australian dollar the $$$$$$$$$$$$'s it would take to produce TLW) .....production costs went from $23,000,000 USD per series to 32,000,000 USD per series (4th and 5th seasons would have cost 64,000,000 USD.) Cheaper then the States, but still a very hefty amount. The investors wanting more insurance their money would make money.* And so it goes........................

CAP

*Reality programming, was the new kid on the block, easy and cheaper to produce. So why produce live/action when you can invest in Reality programming and receive a larger return on the dollar.
