Great choice! Forgot about "O'Connell" and "Evelyn" - loved how they'd say the other person's more formal name when they were irritated...

Thanks for mentioning!

I don't know if anyone here is familiar with the books of Lois McMasters Bujold. I like the romantic adventures of Aral and Cordelia VorKosigan. My favorite point is that the adventure was not over when they married. They were powerful people in responsible positions who had a functional married life without diminishing either of them. They had huge problems and worked out solutions. That is something unusual in presentation.

What a fun survey!! Here's my thoughts on the subject:

1. Real Life: My sister and her new (and only) grandson..I know that might not seem romantic, but watching my super tough, incrediby competent and hard headed Big Sister go ga ga over this little guy warms my heart (It also makes me howl with laughter and yes, I tease her all the time about it!).

2. Historical: The Black Prince of Wales, Edward and his consort, Princess Joanna. Normally Royal's didn't make "love" matches, but not in their case. They actually loved each other, which their marriage very romantic. Also, we could go with Teddy Rossevelt and his first wife. When she died in childbirth, he was so broken hearted he left everything behind and fledto the Dakotas where he spent more than two years cowboying and trying to get over her death (Until his sister told him to grow up and come home to raise his daughter). From all accounts, he never really did.

3. Literature: Viola and Duke Orsino from Twelfth Night. Darcy and Elizabeth from Pride and Prejudice. Nyeave al' Mera ti Al'Mandragoran and Lan Al'mandragoran from The Wheel Of Time. Mat Cauthin (sp?) and Tuon, "The Daughter Of The Nine Moons", again from The Wheel Of Time :"Beware the Fox that makes the ravens fly, for he will marry you and steal you away. Beware the man who remembers Hawkwing's face, for he will marry you and set you free. Beware the man of the Red Hand , for him you will marry and none other." I've always loved that scene.

4. TV: Veronica and Ned..Like y'all didn't see that coming!*G* Mulder and Scully , of course (BTW, Kimmer, I've got some X Files stuff you mght be interested in ( The long rumored hallway kiss in FT? It does exist and I have it.) . DR Tam and Kylie from Firefly. Buffy and Spike from Buffy.

5.Film: Annie Osborne and Remy Mcswain from The Big Easy (If you haven't seen it, rent it..Hottes, most romantic crime movie ever and the final scene is wildly romantic (and totally unexpected). Gotta agree with Nick and Nora Charles. And of course, Harry and Sally from "When Harry met Sally".

and that's it for me.

Wow, so many of those I love have already been mentioned (some repeatedly). It is nice to know I am not alone in my adoration :-).
So, with 2 exceptions, I am listing ones I did not see already.

Historical/Real Life (Not so historical and not in MY everyday life): Paul Newman/Joanne Woodward and Jennifer Garner/Ben Affleck.

Literature: Darcy / Elizabeth (Pride & Prejudice is my favorite book so I had to include it even if it has already been written), Edward / Bella (Twilight Saga), and Stephanie Plum / Joe (Stephnie Plum novels by Janet Evanovich)

TV: Roxton / Marguerite (if I have to say the show your on the wrong site!), Buck Rogers/Wilma Deering, and Mick St. John / Beth (Moonlight)

Film: Maria / Captain Von Trapp (Sound of Music), Danielle / Prince Henry (Ever After), and Lucy / Jack (While you were Sleeping).

Can't wait to see who else appears in the upcoming lists.

Take care,
LostWorlder

Yes :) or something like that... here are the ones I've spotted:

"Space cowboy" outfit in the halloween episode.

A mention of "Desparate housewives" in another episode.

He also referenced "Buffy, The Vampire Slayer" in the Halloween episode.

In another epside he talks about the "Asteroids" video game. Castle mentioned that Ryan Reynolds would be playing the part of the triangle ship. Ryan and Nathan were both in "Two Guys, A Girl and a Pizza Place".

A reference to "One Life to Live" a soap opera in which he starred.

On the topic of great romances historial. John of Gaunt (Ghent) Duke of Lancaster. He married his long time mistress Katherine Swynford (unheard of) and then did another very surprising thing, legitimized the children he had by Katherine (by Royal and Papal Decree).
