JerzygGurl, basically the pilot movie is the first two episodes of the series, The Journey Begins and Stranded. Both of the episodes and the pilot movie were edited.

An example: The famous "Marguerite shoots Roxton between the legs" scene was seen in the pilot movie but we never saw it in The Journey Begins. We also have a wonderful scene where Marguerite is washing her blouse and Roxton comes along nd tells her of his first meeting with T-Rex -- which was in Stranded (?) but not in the movie. Things like that.

For awhile TNT was showing the movie at odd hours of the morning but I'm not certain they still have rights to the movie or not. It's been awhile since they've shown it. Hope this helps. :)

John Malone from the pilot movie is Ned Malone that we all know and love. Not only the character had its name changed but also the actor who played Malone in the pilot was replaced by David Orth later :D I don't know why the writers decided to give to both men the same names. It was very strange for me too when I first saw the movie  I'm sure someone knows the full story and is able to explain this little confusion

Hi Hoghunter, the producers wanted a different type as Malone (when the pilot went to series) and David Orth was hired.

Because that is what it was. It did well and the go ahead for the series came from TPTB not long after.
Laura Vasquez (Assai) said they had a good feeling about it. She knew she wouldn't be a regular but knew once the series was announced she'd be returning time to time.
They just simplified for the series and took the movie and made it the first two episodes.

I hadn't seen the pilot when I first started reading the fan fiction, a lot of which refers to the deleted scenes, that was confusing for a while.

I am quite glad they changed a couple of the scenes actually, I had never had a desire to see more of Jennifer O'Dell than we usually do ;o)

I think this is the pilot if you want it...
