Hello, I'm a newcomer to this board and was just wondering if there has ever been or will ever be a Lost World convention in the UK. I would really like to go to one and they seemed to have been held in other parts of the world. Unfortunatley, could never afford to go so if a convention is ever held in my country, i would really like to know about it.

Hi Outlaw....

Welcome again...

Absolutely there could very well be a convention in the UK. What is needed is a strong dedication to making it happen and money (which is as important).

If you can find the posts from Margie in the forum, it would give you an idea on how much time, effort and costs are involved in putting on a convention. Margie was President of The Lost World Convention in the US from 2004 and 2005.

I'm right in the middle of making dinner, but wanted to answer something you said in another thread. The writers never gave up on TLW. But they are not the money people. Peter Bergmann was the Executive Producer and in charge of all the funding (he and a group of investors funded the entire 3rd season) when others backed away...they saved the show in hopes of further funding for another two years. Unfortunately after the third season.....any potential investors decided live/action/ was too costly (when reality programming was far cheaper an investment and the returns were greater). The yearly cost of producing a show like TLW was over 30,000,000 USD.

Back to your topic...conventions are wonderful, but like I said, time consuming and very costly. A gentle alternative is to have a gathering. A small group of people get together in a home or restaurant and have fun discussing the show, fanfiction, actors, whatever topics you can devise etc.

TakeCare!

Thank you for answering my question. Maybe one day they will be a convention in England, gatherings are a good idea but it would be amazing to have a convention as possibly cast members from the show might be there as well. : )

Enjoy your dinner.

Hey, Outlaw... I wanted to say... (after some thinking and a cup of hot chocolate) that you might have thought, the conventions were run by those people that put on the Trek do's (big organizations run for profit). And, hence your question about the convention. The TLW convention (and 2002 gathering) was put on by the fans, fan driven, run, donated too and by (and a designated not-for-profit). And that was why I answered you as I did, that you can do the same in the UK. The Taggart Convention was done by the fans (took them 20 years LOL, but they had one). :)

Cheers~~~

Wow, that's amazing. I hadn't realized the conventions were organized by the fans. That is dedication!

I would love to put one together in England, but unfortunately i'm working full time and studying. I just don't have the time to something this big...but maybe after i'm done studying, maybe......watch this space. I think it's fitting that we have a convention in England, after all Summerlee,Roxton,Marguerite and Challenger are supposed to be from England. : )

It could be held at the Natural History Museum (background full of dinosaurs) in London or maybe in Avebury. : )

Do you have any pictures of past conventions? I would really like to see them.

Actually, I remember someone else posted the idea for a convention/gathering in Avebury in the other thread. Pics from conventions... I don't have any, cause I've never been to a convention, because... well, I was too young when the conventions took place :x . But I'm sure someone else can help you find pics from the cons. :D

Outlaw, these are Mr.CAP's pictures of the 2004 Convention.

2004 TLW Convention

The picture on the portal is, I believe of the 2003 convention. Will, J&G. I have a few others, which I have received permission to post. But, I'm running out of time.

TTYL,

Hi!

I'm posting my unofficial (and amateur) pictures from the conventions on:

2005: http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLandin ... leid=en_US

and

2006: http://www.kodakgallery.com/ShareLandin ... leid=en_US

They appear in a previous thread in this forum (maybe in the Convention reports, I guess) so I they've been seen before by the others, but I think pasting the links here will make your life easier...

* Sighs * browsing through them I noticed how much I miss meeting you guys, even if only for 2 days a year!!

Lady Cris Krux

Thank you so much CAP and Lady Cris Krux for the great pictures. It must have been amazing to be surrounded by such wonderfully talented people. And how gracious of them to take the time to spend with those that enjoyed the fruits of their labors as much as The Lost World fans do.

For CAP: My brain nearly exploded when I saw written on that piece of paper "Missing scene from Trapped". WHAT?!?!?!?! What did I miss out on? My imagination will go wild now.

For Lady Cris Krux: I felt like I was there. You told the story beautifully about your time there through pictures. I'm tempted to dig in my closet to see what I got from the convention.
