I took French for 8 years in school but without using it, I only remember very little. I worked in alot of clubs and restaurants in NY which employed people from places like Haiti, Costa Rica, Sri Lanka, etc. I always tried to learn a few words of the languages to make work easier and to make an effort to communicate better. My mother is Greek, and I grew up around alot of Jewish and Italian families. So, my claim to fame is that I can yell at my kids in over a half a dozen languages.
I also claim my kids to be bi-lingual. They speak Irish English and American English. Example: Chips for French fries, Jumper for sweater, runners for sneakers, etc. [my oldest says "to-mah-to" no matter where he is which drives me nuts!] They are learning the real Irish language in school and are very good at it, there is no way I will even attempt it, my NY mouth just won't attempt it. _________________ I used to jog but the ice cubes kept falling out of my glass.

| I speak 4 languages, Dutch, English, German and French. I can also understand some Spanish and Italian, but don't actually speak them.

Aside from English, I'm near fluent in Spanish. I can also read Hebrew, however, these days I seldom understand exactly what I'm reading. I understood a lot more when I was younger.
I'd really like to learn French and keep toying with the idea of buying the Rosetta Stone software.
